  • 3 min read

Self care is an incredibly popular topic these nowadays. It can be quite an important concept. It is very hard to take time to slow down and pay attention to your own needs, but it is worth it. Self care can mean many different things to different people, but the gist of it is right there in the term itself -- it's the act of taking care of yourself. For some, self care may look look like having a set time to pamper yourself physically. For others, it may look like taking care of yourself mentally and/or emotionally . For many, it means all of these things.

The best gift that you can give to yourself is to support, protect, and improve all aspects of your health. Taking care of yourself is recognizing your own needs and fulfilling them. It is about listening to your mind, your body, your soul to make sure they're functioning at their BEST so that you can function at your best. You are the only one who knows what YOU need. All you have to do is listen.

We asked our followers how they practice self care and here's what they said:

"Take note of every success! When I write down my accomplishments it acts as a reminder of the good I did. Sometimes I forget the positive, so being able to reflect back on them has been awesome. I just store mine in the notes section of my phone." - Stacey, FL

"I power down, once daily. I have to. I turn off all my devices, I just sit down and zone out. Sometimes I read a chapter of my favorite book, or I'll sit outside and drink a glass of tea. The stress of being an entrepreneur can be hard. If I'm having a hard time relaxing, I take some Power Down! It is the best for finding calmness." - Jackie G, MA

"My favorite self care practice is the one where I treat myself to new home items. I find that creating the ultimate relaxed environment was crucial for me. It started off with getting a new blanket and softer pillows for my couch, to now I have an entire relaxing space to come home to." - Ben, OH

"Self care means fun activities for me. I love to indulged in board games, arts and crafts, etc.. Using art and a playful mind for me is a great way to turn off from the daily work flow that causes stress!" - Trenton, AZ

"I have a 'Care Package' that I made for myself. It comes out on the days that I need self care the most. It has bubble bath, a new book, candy, and other things that give me a good pick me up!" - Taelor
