5 Tips for Becoming the New You this Year

  • 3 min read

New Year’s resolutions are a dime a dozen, aren’t they? We often do this—make resolutions year after year—only to lose sight of our goals within a short amount of time. We do this for a lot of reasons. But for me, this is largely due to being a mom—a mom to three teenage boys, no less. My goals shift from focusing on myself to focusing on my boys. Before I know it, my own goals have been put on the back burner to help my boys achieve theirs.

I know I’m not alone when I do that. As women, caretakers, and career women, we often feel like we have more to prove. So we shove aside what we need to do for ourselves in order to do for other people. To prove we’re worthy. Here are five things that I believe can help you become the New You this year.

• Star the New Year with a Cleanse

Choose one that does a good job. Try the MagO7. This oxygen cleanse is designed to work overnight, so you can manage a cleanse without the cramps, bloating, and other digestive issues of other cleanses. Gentle and fast, the MagO7 cleanse is absolutely perfect to jump start your diet or wellness goals.

• Clean Out Your Closet

De-cluttering has a multitude of positive side effects. There are both physical and mental benefits to de-cluttering your house. For now, start small. Start with your closet. One of the proven causes of stress in people’s lives is clutter. Sounds weird, but it’s true. Clutter overwhelms our senses, and causes them to work overtime on images and stressors that are not necessary. De-cluttering can have the immediate effect of relaxing with more long-term effects of increasing productiveness and improving overall well-being.

• Start a Journal

This can be a journal of just notes to yourself, things you are grateful for, accomplishments, or a place to jot down all of your ideas. Putting things down on paper is one of the best ways to transfer ideas to reality. When you write things down, it can give you a different view or approach to things. It can also help you expand on your thoughts which is proven to help reduce stress. Studies show people who keep journals also get more peaceful sleep at night. So start writing for better sleep!

• Take a Multi-Vitamin Every Day

This is one of the easiest things you can do to help stay healthier and happier in the new year. Choose a high quality, comprehensive vitamin from a reputable company like NBPure. Multi-vitamins are an all-around great way of keeping us our best selves. They have been shown to improve memory and cognitive function, ward off birth defects, and give us the energy we need to get through the day.

• Smile More

Have you ever heard the expression “fake it until you make it?” This is also true of smiling. Studies have shown that smiling can help improve your confidence and have a positive impact on others around you as well. It is contagious. It lowers stress and anxiety. It releases endorphins. The list goes on and on. This is something you can do for free whenever you feel like it. So why not?

These five tips for helping you become the best possible YOU in 2017 don’t take away from what we do best—taking care of our families and the people we love. These are all things that we can add into our daily routines without making our goals unattainable. Yet, these are five things that can have a major impact on our lives to help us become the best US we can possibly be.
