How to Participate in National Nutrition Month

  • 2 min read
This March is National Nutrition Month and that means many are celebrating the transformative power of food and nutrition. If you're wondering how to plug in or spread the word, this is just the post for you.

Avoid Ingredients You Can't Pronounce
A natural place for a lot of people is to simply re-commit to all-natural, fresh foods. Go for organic, locally-grown options that cut out all the artificial flavors, preservatives and antibiotics. As a gentle reminder during this exercise, check out the product labels in your grocery store and avoid anything with ingredients you can't pronounce.

Consider checking out local farmer's markets in your area. Fresh weather, warm sun, and delicious meals are waiting!

Seek Out Colorful Options
If counting macros and meal prep are still intimidating to you, don't sweat it. You can give your body the vitamins and nutrients it needs this month by working more color into your diet. Think leafy greens, plump red fruit, bright melons,  blueberries, tangy oranges. The options are plenty and jampacked with healthy benefits.

And if you'll notice, many unhealthy fast food options are bland in color. The same goes for packaged snacks and sweets. Push the crackers and chips and patties aside this March and reach for something colorful and healthy!

Kick Bad Habits
Still hooked on sugar? Consuming a lot of alcohol? Can't say no to carbs? You may find strength and motivation in numbers this month. With more and more individuals,  communities and even workplaces celebrating the benefits of National Nutrition Month, you have the opportunity to seek out accountability partners,  structure good-natured competition, or even find a walking, talking success story. All this to say, most people you encounter can stand to benefit from taking another look at their diets and lifestyles. Use the awareness of this season to everyone's benefit by forming bonds, locating mentors and building friendships based on winning together.

It's time to kick the bad habits and cravings.

Be sure to share your progress updates and results on social media. There's no telling who it may inspire.
